(Jubilee Tower) JubiläumswarteJohann Staud-Gasse, Vienna, AustriaTel: +43 1 21 114/+43 1 2 4555(Tourist Information) The Ottakringer Jubilee observation point, which was erected in 1899 from designs by architect Karl Hoegler, stands somewhat hidden in the depths of the Wienerwald (the woods of Vienna). So much so that a great deal of the citizens of Vienna are not sure of its whereabouts. However, once visitors have made the effort to climb the 183 spiralling steps and seen the fantastic view of the city and the forest, they always return. Special notices on the platform (at a height of 31.11 metres) offer descriptions of the things to be seen. On a clear day, it is even possible to make out the Oberoesterreichische Traunstein which lies 183km away, or the weisse Karpaten at a distance of 126km!!
